We had a scare where we almost physically lost our data DVD library...some of which can't be replaced because the software isn't even sold anymore.

Does anyone know the best app to backup a copy-protected data DVD? My understanding is that Disk Utility makes a clone but doesn't capture the copy-protection, and so the backup doesn't work.

Much appreciated, thanks!

Have you tried Toast ?

It's my preferred option to Disk Utility, but don't know if it would copy CP DVD's.

Or copy individual data etc, not the DVD as a whole ?

It depends on the strength of the protection. DU will copy some discs but not others. You won't waste any media trying, just take an image of the disc. If it suffers a read error consistently, its probably copy protected. I'd be surprised if Toast copied anything that DU does not. Toast must one of the most pirated pieces of software in Mac history, it would be rather foolish if Roxio were helping software pirates.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....
