I have a word file called POST OFFICES. Its in Main Hard rive, Photo document folder, Misc foler.

So it's three folders in, but anyway, spotlight does not find it at all. I even clicked to check documents.

I tried eZfind, which some people rave about, and it found it. What's the deal with Spotlight?

Likely the Spotlight database got corrupted somehow. Try adding that folder to the privacy settings and then removing it again. That will force Spotlight to reindex.

thanks P, lost me. Why put that in privacy? privacy is what you don't want searched. ? ?

Yes, but if you put something in the privacy settings and then remove it again, that forces a reindex.
