I've noticed a problem that's happened a couple times to me now.
When I'm using iTunes 2.0.1 under X, and it's playing a song, I'll lose sound, but switching to iTunes shows that the mp3 is still playing. The time is still counting and the progress bar still moves. Stopping and starting the playback restores sound, as does clicking anywhere else in the playback progress bar (to make it jump to a different point in the song, for instance). I also noticed that clicking on the Sound widget in the menu bar and changing the sound volume even slightly will restore sound.
This leads me to believe that it's a Mac OS sound problem rather than something specific to iTunes.
Anyone else notice this?
Steve

I've had the same thing happen every now and then. I suspected it might have something to do with USB audio. I have an iSub and an iMic connected to a USB hub. How 'bout you?

Happened to me today as well while I was burning a cd. Audio kicked out for some odd reason. Relogging in fixed it.

I've had my sound disappear when booting from OS X back into OS 9. The only fix I found was to zap the PRAM. I don't know if ths problem is related to yours or not.

I have the exact same problem as Scip. It worked perfectly under iTunes 1, but not 2.0.1. I am yet to try out other MP3 players, or just anything that makes sound.
