I have come to a point where I no longer have any idea what to do. I have a 450MHz G4, 256MB RAM, 2-36GB ATA Drives(brand new nothing on them) connected with a 2940U2W Adaptec Card (I have upgrade the firmware on the card to 4.1). I have formatted the drives both as HFS+ and partitioned (2) the first drive as SCSI 0,0 to 3GB for the OS Server(HFS+) and the other 31+ GB available as HFS+ and it gave me about 5KB as unallocated. I go through the install. Once, I restart it to begin the process and it seems to be loading the info. and then it restarts itself and that seems to be it. The 3GB partition is missing as I expect it to not show up. and the other 31GB is showing along with the second 36GB drive. (I did make the 3GB partition first in the initilize process before the 31+GB partition.) I then go the the system disk utility and select the OS Server partition which shows up and restart the Server and remove the OS 1.2 Server CD. The result I achieve is a flashing question mark and nothing more. I called apple tech support and they would only help me so far. But,I had tried all of the suggestions he gave me and I made him verify to me that the computer configuration I had was correct and would work, which he did. Does anyone know what I am missing. Thank you in advance

there is a version of os x server 1.2 for new GIGABIT g4's.
Any old version will not work on the new GIGABIT g4's.

Apple would not help me saying the card needed is and OEM card that was made specifically for them. They told me to call Adaptec who would not reveal anything to me other than the fact that the card was made for Apple and Apple wrote the code for the card to work with the OS X Server 1.2.

Thanks I finally figured it out and the Server is working.
