I read on Apple's website that you cannot install OS X Server on an iMac. Yet I hear people talking about it, and have seen a machine on ebay that claims OS X is running on an iMac 266. Does anybody have any insight on this?

P.S. When I attempt to install on my 266 iMac, I get an error stating it will not work on that computer.

Well firstly yes you are right in that it can be installed on an Imac. The installation process is the same as that of an install of OSXS on a Powerbook.

The latest edition of MacTech magazine has step by step instructions of how to go about installing OSXS Linux Darwin and DP4, on a Powerbook. I would suggest getting the magazine as it is very informative and covers not only the install of OSXS but of other OS that may be of interest as well. If you would like I will list the instruction of how to go about doing the insatall.

You can install Mac OS X Server on your iMac 266. When you get that error that says it will not work on this computer go to the dropdown second over from the left. There is only one option to click on. In that panel click on the allow install on unsupported machines. It should install fine after that...
