Just curious what the wireless reception is like using a PM g4 with an airport card and the Jaguar software base station. Does it compare well to that of having a dedicated base station?

I have 2 powerbooks that will be using it as their base station

Any information would be greatly appreciated
Just let it be!!

Does it compare well to a dedicated base station? No, not really. Using a dedicated component gives you a lot of flexibility that using a wireless card in your computer for a base station just doesn't offer. Even with a base station that uses a wireless card (like the AirPort Base Station, Orinoco's, and others), you can locate the base wherever you like, including rather high off the floor, which seems to help reception. Many other brands of base, such as the Linksys wireless bases, have a dual antenna system that gives them a lot more range.
