Hi-
I have a TiBook (X.2) with an internal airport card and a PBG3 series running 8.6 and with an Orinoco Wireless Gold card. AT home we have an ABS and the two communicate via appletalk (wirelessly) without problem.
Away from the base station, I wanted to set up a wireless peer to peer network. I am able to configure a network (TiBook's Airport software shows strong signal on a network I named TiBook3) and similarly on the PBG3's Orinoco software I am connected to the same network.
I have appletalk enabled on both sides, but the TiBook cannot mount the G3 Powerbook's hard drive as a server. Additionally the G3 Powerbook, running 8.6, can't find the TiBook in its chooser menu. I have reset the PRAM on the PBG3 series (trashed appletalk preferences), and that did not help.
With a simple ethernet cable, the two computers found each other over appletalk without difficulty.
Can I get these 2 mac's to wirelessly talk without the base station? Any tips?
