I am trying to share my cable modem connection on my G4 Quicksilver with 10.2.1 with my PowerBook G 3with 10.2.1 and the open source driver.

I turned on Internet sharing on my G4 and it appears to be sharing my airport.

However, My PowerBook can not seem to find it/connect.

What do I need to check?

I checked the other posts but no luck.

Thanks

I think I got it to work. Something simple (or duh on me).

I forgot I had the firewall turned on my desktop without any extras allowed.

I turned off the firewall and it worked.

Printer Sharing works too...this is great!

No Airport Base Station needed and it works with my open source PCMCIA wireless card driver in my Lombard.

Congrats on getting your set up to work.

I'm a little confused about your set up you describe. You saying it's using your airport, but you don't have a base station. No Airport Base Station needed? That's quite a feat, isn't it?

Yes...no base station...did not know I could it until I read about it elsewhere.

I have a G4 Quicksilver with 10.2.1 and an Airport card. My cable modem is connected to it.

Under Sharing>Internet, I checked the share Internet via airport.

That was it!

I am now wireless in my house.

I tested my Powerbook both in OS X and 9 and it worked great.

I also was able to print via wireless to my HP 2200 printer connected to my G4.

I also was able to share files via wireless.

I am mad at myself because I have had this setup for months and just now figured it out!

but, but, but ... wow that is awesome. Didn't know that was possible but I guess it's a computer to computer network?

How much range do you get with your setup?
