I have a home network with a few Airports. I have one that isn't being used and I'd like to extend the network into an area without coverage, but there is no way to connect the basestation via ethernet, and running ethernet is no something I'd like to do.

Is it possible to set up an airport as a repeater or something like that?

No. Apple's Airport Base Station don't support this setup. They do support roaming if they're connected via ethernet (link both base stations via cat-5), but you can't use a base station as a stand-alone repeater.

Some vendors' access points (e.g. Cisco) do support this, but Apple's don't.
