I know that Apple's Airport cards can be, so I'm sure the physical capability is there... but I'm thinking maybe it's a software issue. So, can I use my desktop PC as the wireless server for my laptop Mac?
I'm hoping to skip having a wireless router at all.

My setup (hopefully):
Cable modem directly connected to desktop; laptop connected to desktop wirelessly.
Basically, I want the PC to surf via a cabled connection, so that the Wireless card in it is used only to send and receive to the Mac.

possible?

IIRC, That all depends on the OS version. Windows XP, for example, will allow connection sharing on any NIC, including wireless cards, as will Win2K.

Not sure about older Windows versions, although it's likely to be possible using third-party apps even if it's not built into the OS (as was the case with Mac OS X.1)
