I've been shunned from another user forum for posting a URL. Apparently this is against their rules and I was banned from their site -- no slap on the hand or a pulled post with a "don't do that" note. This was just a hyper link to an online auto parts store not some unethical web site!! I've been blacklisted! What they do is log your IP address when you enter the site. There is no other log in requirement such as this site. I can't access the site now with my current IP address. I am using AirPort, OS 10.1, and a cable modem. Anyway to change or show another IP?

Um... the easiest way would probably just wait awhile... if your ISP uses DHCP, your addres MAY change in a few days/weeks.... If not, well, unless you know how to spoof your address and setup sourceroutes (assuming they allow that)... your' outta luck I think.

I don't know a whole lot about IPs so I might be out of luck. I can always access the site from work if needed. The crazy thing is you use to be able to post URLs but they must have changed their rules somewhere along the line. Like I said, it wasn't anything offensive, just a auto parts store. I'd be like me posting a link to ClubMac on this site -- oh, no ....am I banned from this site now!!

Have you considered contacting the forum's managers? You could ask why you were banned, when the policy changed, and what the current terms of use are. Being polite (and contrite) can go a long way.

Most ISP are not going to change you IP address, despite the fact that it is DHCP. Even if you were to unplug your cable/DSL modem and plug it back you would most likely get the same IP.

If you have an opportunity to take your modem off-line for a long period, like the holiday weekend, you might get a new IP. Depends on how long your current DHCP lease is . . . .

As others have said, apologizing nicely with a promise not to do it again may be the hot ticket in this case.

Just setup a web proxy or use someone else's web proxy. That way, you're viewed as a differnet IP. Some clueless kid called tooki tried to ban my IP but with proxies and infinite IP's available, its fruitless.

Suggest doing a search on google or the like to find some public web proxies you could use

If you unplug your cable modem for a few hours, chances are thats all you'll need to get a new IP, especially if you've had the same IP for a while.
