Okay, remember you are dealing with a dummy here, so be kind. : )
I have an airport. I have an iMac with airport card and an iBook with airport card. Both have no trouble hooking up to the DSL that is hooked into the airport.
What I want to know is HOW (and I mean step by step - remember, you are dealing with a dummy) I can transfer files between the two computers through the airport (or can I not do that?) and how to share printer access.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated...

Yep, you can definitely do both of those things, and without much difficulty -- it's much easier than in Windows, from my experience. How it works depends on what OS you're using ... the hints below assume you've moved up to OS X. (If you're still using OS9 or below, someone else will have to chime in, here.)
First, open System Preferences, and choose "Sharing." Check the "Personal File Sharing" box, and the "Printer Sharing" box if applicable. Do this on each of your computers.
Then, open a Finder window on one of the machines, and try the "Connect to Server" command (Apple-K). An IP address for the other computer should appear in the resulting box. Select it, and you should be set to go.
Depending on the version of OS X you've got, you may get a bit of wierdness in Connect to Server -- multiple, unworkable IP addresses appearing in the list over time. If that happens, you can solve the problem by assigning a fixed IP address to each computer. I can explain that process, if necessary.
Good luck ...

and, this is a networking question, not iMac.
I'm moving it to the networking forum. Thanks!

If you are using 10.2.x a nice easy way to transfer files to to use rendezvous. Open iChat and create an account. Then you can send files from one to the other by dragging the file over the icon of the other iBook or iMac and accepting the file on the other computer.
This sounds complicated, but it is much easier to do than explain!
