I purchased a Linksys BEFSR41 v.2 cable/DSL router about two years ago and have never had problems with it till recently. The router is connected to a cable modem and I have DHCP on, assigning IPs to my client machines. Quite abruptly none of my Macs could gain access to HTTP/DNS resources on the Internet, though I can still get mail? This was not subsequent to any software/hardware changes to any of the Macs affected they are the same setup as a week ago when they were working. However, it does still allow my WinXP box to have full access to the internet. I have tried both downgrading and upgrading the firmware with no luck. As well as powering down the router, cable modem and client computers and none of this has done anything to alleviate the problem. The Macs that are having problems are a PowerBook G3 running 10.2 and a PowerMac G4 400 running 10.2.2 (clean install) with the same results on both. I have completely run out of ideas as to what could be causing this, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the firmware is up-to-date its at 1.43.3. After I posted my last comment, I realized that I was still able to ping sites outside my network, so I guessed it must be a problem with my Internet providers DNS servers. I was able to confirm that other people with Macs on this network were having the same problem as myself. Once I put the IP for their DNS servers into network setting for my Macs everything worked again. I was wondering if anyone knew what might cause this as my PC was working the entire time without the DNS server IP?

It's probably a slight difference in how PCs and Macs update a DHCP client's DNS information. In short, the data was still getting there, but your Macs didn't see it.
This happens from time to time as the ISP upgrades various parts of its network, and it usually irons itself out in a little while. If it doesn't go back to normal pretty soon, I'd contact the ISP's tech support and ask for help-at least that will let them know that yet another Mac user is not getting what he's paying for.

Do yourself a favor and downgrade to version 1.43 as the one you are using has a big bug that resets it every 4 hours.

...And keep your eyes out for an even newer version! Linksys just released version 1.44. There are a BUNCH of folks testing it-see Broadband Reports' Linksys Forum for what happens. It looks like the programmers got kicked in the butt over the glitch in 1.43.3, and they didn't get their weekend break until they fixed it.

Yes this just happened to me. My world ip changed from 216... to 69... then took about 2 weeks for isp to get it working good again.
(I was going nuts reseting the router and/or modem every third day or so---was working great for 2 yrs before this isp upgrade.
