I would like to connect a beige G3 to an existing wireless network. The problem is the beige G3 that I want to connect to the network will be located on the 3rd floor of the house. Unfortunately, the wireless router (which has ethernet ports) and modem are located on the 2nd floor of the house. I do not want to run a long ethernet cable from the 2nd to 3rd floor. The modem and router must stay on the 2nd floor due to the location of the telephone line. Currently, we use powerbooks with airport cards to access the network. The Beige G3 does not have any way (that I know of) to connect an airport card. It does have an ethernet port. Can I use another wireless router or access point with an ethernet port to network to the existing wireless router on the 2nd floor?

I use a Proxim Skyline USB-wireless adapter and it works well for my beige G3:

I am using a Linksys WET11 ethernet bridge on my Beige MT. This allows use of DSL that runs to a 1st version AirPort Base, also enables printer sharing with OS X. I had a difficult time initially configuring the unit but once completed, the bridge works great.

Does that thing use USB?

It is an expensive solution, the cable would cost you about $20 and it really isn't that much work most of the time.

I'm pretty sure you can get cheaper PCI cards that accept wireless Airport/802.11b cards to get inserted into them. I know that Linksys offers some, though you'd need the Linksys PCI card and the Linksys PC Card wireless card to do it.

Actually Linksys makes a PCI (without need for separate card) wireless solution. I don't know if it supports Mac OSs, though.
