I have a home airport network consisting of an original graphite ABS
connected to ADSL. I connect to this happily with a G4 powerbook, iMac, iBook and G4 2 x 1 gig tower. (OK we have too many macs :-))
Today I
pulled an old Pismo with WaveLAN/Orinoco card out of the cupboard. A year ago it worked on this same network. It couldn't see the ABS so I upgraded it to a clean OS 9.2.1 and then Airport 2.0.4. Still can't see the ABS. No green dots in the control strip, no `HomeNet' (name of network - original eh!) in the pop-up menu and if I choose Other and put in the name and password it complains there has been an error.
The weird part is I can connect computer-to-computer fine (the G3 PB can see the G4 tower) or I can make the PB a software base station and see it from the G4.
Any thoughts - I admit I am not as good as OS 9 as I used to be so feel free to point out the `obvious'. Things I have tried are
PRAM reset
numerous restarts
Appledtalk is on airport
TCP/IP is on Airport with manual IP and all other settings as in
the other machines.
ABS network is not closed and WEP is off. The network is password protected.
HomeNet is visible on all the other machines (running OS X )
I can't find the ABS firmware version in the OS X utility.
Thanks in advance - Michael
