I wish to connect tothe internet with starband since no other hi speed connection is available where I live. I currently have a G4 connected by ethernet cable to an airport and and network with an ibook. Both are runnin 10.2. Other posts indicate it is possible to hook up to satellite internet as long as you use pc to do initial set up. I was wondering if any could specifically describe what needs to be done since I will not receive any suport from starband with my mac and do not wish to make the investment unless it will work, but I crave higher internet speeds
thanks

With the older Starband 180 modems, you could do the setup with a Pc, then disconnect the PC and not have to have it. You could have borrowed one for the setup.
With the current Starband modem, the 360, you have to have a PC on at all times to connect the Macs. Not hard to setup, but like I said, you have to have a PC to do this.

Bob that is disappointing, is there another sat server that the setup would not require purchasing a pc? skycasters says it is mac compatable but it is very expensive.

No, skycasters is the only one out there right now.

Worry not, appeasement-loving infidels! Chirac & Schröder defend the Butcher of Baghdad.

Go to http://www.otherworldcomputing. They've said they're working on a Mac Sat system. Go to their site and get their number and give them a call. The boss is Larry.

Bob
Thanks for the information. I called OWC and talked to one of there tech guys and he is very actively working on establishing a mac satellite hookup. Unfortunately he feels it may be 6 months to write the drivers and work out the political issues involved but 6 months is better than never.
thanks for the input, I guess I will wait and visit OWC's website at http://www.owc.net/ ( the address you posted has changed)
