I've been looking to buy a Mac for a while, but I work entirely within Windows environments everywhere I go. Not too much trouble because I do most of my work in ASP or PHP, so all I really need is a text editor. There are times when I need a Windows box, and quite often an RDP (Windows Terminal Services) connection would suffice.

I went to the local Apple Store today and downloaded Microsoft's client. I fired it up and started working on the Terminal Server we have open to the Internet. After 30 seconds, I get "Application quit unexpectedly". Happened three times before I gave up.

Is anyone using it regularly? How well does it work for you?

I use RDC daily both over ethernet at work and over airport-DSL-VPN from home to administer a number of 2K servers. Works like a charm.

You might want to try Citrix's ICA client for OS X if you can't get around your RDC probs .. but I would suspect the crashes are either network-related, or could be fixed with a reinstall.

cheers

Getting Citrix on your server is a much pricer option than getting RDP to work right. I use it to control my Win2K servers at work and my .net preview server at home without any problems.

I can't say what's wrong with the setup you tried, but I do know it doesn't have to be that way.
OS X: Where software installation doesn't require wizards with shields.
