I have a G4 Cube and iBook (both OSX 10.2.3) communicating wirelessly to a graphite ABS. I've had no trouble using the ABS internal modem to connect to internet. But I've now got a Hermstedt NetShuttle DSL router (and a functioning ADSL line - I've checked by using the NetShuttle direct with the iBook)
Problem: I can't find a way of configuring the ABS to connect via an ethernet cable to the DSL router. The ethernet light on the router does not light up no matter what I try (but it does if I connect direct from the iBook) What settings should be used in the Internet and network panesl of the Airport Admin Utility?
Any guidance would be great.
Thanks.
NB This is a UK request. I believe that PPPoE isn't supported yet by my DSL provider

There's your problem. AirPort Base Station software handles PPPoE, but not PPPoA, which is apparently common in the UK. My suggestion is to find a gateway router that supports PPPoA and use it. Look here for a start.
Good luck.

Thanks for taking an interest in this problem - I'm still trying! My DSL router does support PPPoA so I don't think that's the problem however. The difficulty is that I can't get the ABS (graphite) to link over ethernet to the router, presumably once I can get a connection I'll get straight through to internet (I've checked that the DSL router works.
Cheers
Ron

Since your base station isn't supposed to be acting as a router itself, you need to change the settings to reflect that. Right now the ABS is trying to connect to a modem, rather than just extend your network. You need to set the ABS to bridging mode, wherein it will only bridge between your wired network (the router) and your wireless network.

Many thanks for the help - an ethernet crossover cable was the answer, everything works fine now.
