My DSL line is split via a wireless router, however I'd like to activate personal web sharing so I can set up my Mac as a web server so my friends can download files. Any way to do this?

most routers allow you to open up certain ports and forward the traffic on that port to a specific machine within your internal LAN.

for personal web sharing, you will want to forward port 80 to the IP address of your Mac.

once the forwarding is setup, you can access your web server via the ip address that your ISP has assigned to your router.

What if your ISP (Road Runner) uses DHCP (WAN setup to DCHP in router) to assign a network address (reset periodically)?
