I'm using my iBook and Airport card in a Wintel based environment in school.

I know that the school has several areas that have an access point. Last week I went to several locations to try to hook up to the net, but I couldn't.

Macstumbler showed that the APs are from Agre-Lucent, and there's no WEP set. I can also see the MAC address. However, the SSID is blank, or (null) as seen in my Macstumbler log that I saved.

I searched the forums here before posting this, and so far, only one thread here has this problem.
SO to get around the problem, what other options do I have besides finding out what the SSID is?

Please advise. This is pretty urgent.
Thanks in advance,
Andre.

Your school's network folks have probably disabled SSID broadcast in their access points. You should probably contact their tech support people to see what configuration specifics and permissions you need so that you can connect.

You might run into trouble when trying to connect to the VPN -- at least I did. The reason is that (in our WLAN setup), there is a lower-security-but-more-compatible login for the VPN itself. Unfortunately, Jagwire isn't compatible to it.

Still, there are two solutions for that: DigiTunnel and vpntracker (vpntracker.com).

I'd try it with Jagwire's built-in support and then go for third-party tools.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
