Hi All,

I currently have my iMac hard-wired to a WAP which is wired to a cable modem which is wired to the wall. My wife's Toshiba laptop is wirelessly connected to the network via a PC card.

We'll be moving into a new home and, unfortunately, the room in which I want to set up my "office" doesn't have a cable modem line.

So, I'm wondering if it's possible to set up the WAP and cable modem in another room (that does have the cable connection), but not have any computer actually hard-wired to the set-up? The iMac, of course, would need an Airport card, but could then be placed in the room that I want to use as my "office." And my wife's laptop would continue to connect to the network wirelessly via the PC card.

Any thoughts, suggestions, advice would be greatly appreciated.

TIA.

Lots of people don't have a single cable between any of their computers and the rest of their network-wireless all the way. The biggest considerations are placement of the access point (a high shelf works pretty well), and avoidance of interference sources (microwave ovens, 2.4GHz cordless phones, other wireless devices).
