According to the news I have heard on the radio and news I see on the Internet there are a couple of issues I think I should bring up as a result of Broadcom's chipset for 802.11g.

Did Apple go to 802.11g too early?

That means there's no guarantee that products based on current drafts will work with 11g products from other companies. Apple, for instance, guarantees 11g performance only among its own upcoming AirPort Extreme cards.

The Broadcom product is firmware-updateable.

Any changes to implementation that come, Apple will be more than likely able to update for compatibility.

I'm just really worried about the range. Right now I have great range with my iBook all over my house. I'm getting a new 12" PowerBook with AE. I'm not upgrading the base station to an AE base. I know I won't be able to take advantage of g but I could care less about it. I'm just worried that I'm gonna be tethered to my base station...
