I'm at home trying to connect to a Windows file server at work via VPN and each time I receive a -5023. I looked up this code on Apple's site and it says it's an "afp user not authorized" error, but there's no explanation on how to resolve the problem. Any ideas?

It helps if your actually using the correct username and not the admin username for your computer.
