My ISP has decided to start charging for their SMTP relay service, meaning I'll have to pay them to use email@mac.com. Anyone know of any workarounds?

Any reason why you don't use mac.com's SMTP servers for your mac.com account?

That would appear to solve the problem, no?

I do!! But port 25 packets must be relayed by the ISP and thats what they want to charge for. Just a thought, mac.com is IMAP (port 143) maybe my ISP won't check those. I'll have to see how this works out.

That sounds like a good reason to change isps. (Which is getting more and more difficult to do...)

I'm confused. You're saying that your ISP is charging for you to connect to port 25 on someone else's mail server?

That's a new one on me, and definitely a reason to change ISPs.

Even so, you should still be able to use your ISP's SMTP server with your mac.com account. There is no correlation between the email address used and the server used to send it, unless the ISP really is FUBAR'd.
