I was thinking that it would be cool to be able to run my Desktop PC at much faster remote speed. Currently, I am limited to my $5 10/100Mb/s Ethernet card in my PC.

I'm curious if there would be a real world advantage to trying gigabit networking.

I'd like to hear if anyone has any experience in such matters.

Thanks

None that I can think of. I use remote desktop on both a 100mb ethernet connection and with a powerbook connected via wifi, with no difference in how fast remote desktop runs.

Are either of you guys able to print with the printer connected to the XP machine? I have my Ti 1Ghz connected to my Dell at work using Microsoft's Remote desktop connection but cannot seem to print from the Powerbook. The printer utility cannot see any of the printers connected to the Dell or the Network.

Works fine for me. You have to print from Windows to the Windows printer in the remote desktop window (and then the printer doesn't know that you are on a mac) - remote desktop will not allow the mac to see or use the printers in its own right.
