Hi,
I have just arrived in New York City (from France) and I am looking for an internet access for my Mac (IBook). From your experience, what is the best internet company in New York City?
Cable is a little bit expensive, so I was more looking for a dial-up access (which is much cheaper, although also very slow).
Verizon provides for an Internet access, but I asked for a CD-ROM to get connected two weeks ago... and I have not received anything yet, which makes me think that Verizon is maybe not the best provider...
Thanks for your help and advise.

Though I have never used them myself, I have heard good things about INCH ( http://www.inch.com/info/personal.html).
They're also a small local company and emphasize customer service since they charge $25 and not the usual $20.

Hi there, you might wanna try www.dslreports.com to see if anyone has reviewed any possible broadband choices in your area. Good Luck. BTW, from what I hear earthlink doesn't have bad dialup service, but definatley look around cause I have seen a lot of ISP's offering 9.95$ dialup and prices comprable to that.

Depending on where you are in New York, you may want to look into Optimum Online. They are FAST! I mean REALLY FAST! Check out their web site for details.

I am in 10023. I finally chose roadrunner cable internet too. It is a little bit expensive... but I at least had an appointment with them... not like with Verizon (who, by the way, sent two connection CD ROM two days after I signed in with roadrunner... too late for them).
Moreover, cable connection will be better to download last apple's uprades (OS, iMovie, iPhoto,...). After that, I may try again dial up (which less expensive).
Roadrunner should be installed on wednesday. By the way, how can I check my dowmloads average?
