I was sitting on the balcony of my hotel in Sydney today, fiddling with my PowerBook, when perchance I stumbled upon a totally open, non-secured WiFi connection. Set Network Prefs to DHCP, and bingo! instant free internet access

Now I'd just like to know: is there a way I can send the owner of this network a message or anything? I think a few nice cold beers would be in order...

Did you ever figure out a way to do this?

I bought a iBook recently, installed the Airport card and saw 3 networks (in a apt complex) available.

I'm in the process setting up my own network as well.
