I'm a pretty recent switcher.
Our "main" computer is a Gateway Windows ME (sorry excuse for an OS) PC and I want to also use my iBook 700 G3. I have a a Nortel HSA 1300 1 MB DSL modem and a Network interface card for the PC. My service provider recommends Lynksys routers and will provide tech support for them. Therefore I'm planning on getting one today.
Here are my questions (without even trying to set it up yet):
1) What do I need for the iBook? I know I need an aiport card if I want to connect it wirelessly. Do I need anything if it's connected via wires? Network interface card? What type of wire/cable do I use?
2) Any advice on Lyksys vs. Airport? Locally our Apple provider is out of Aiport basestations. Plus the provider will provide tech support with Lynksys.
3) While I primarily want to be able to have both computers on line at the same time, is it possible to share information/files via such a network directly or would I have to e-mail docs back and forth?
4) I know the new Airport will allow printer sharing between Mac and PC. Is this a relatively basic process and have any of you had any luck doing this with Lynksys or other routers?
Thanks for any help you can offer. I'm entirely new to the whole network idea but long for the day that I don't have to wait to get online.

Basically the only difference between the Airport and the Linksys is that the LinkSys wireless does not support AppleTalk. This is only of consequence if you are trying to share an AppleTalk printer. See:

The link works fine for me using Chimera Navigator. Maybe it was down temporarily.
