Hello

I don't know if I am asking the impossible, but I have a airport card in my powerbook G4, and a wireless USB adapter connected to my Windows XP desktop. I wish to network the two so that I can share my internet connection, files and printer. (all connected to my desktop).

My desktop is also connected to another PC desktop which requires the internet and printer (via ethernet).

So far I have been able to setup a network on my powerbook, and my PC 'see' it... :/ I haven't been able to setup the network on my XP machine, as the ICS thing confuses the hell out of me

Im completely lost as how to set it up, and whether it is possible or not.. I was hoping someone could spend the time to explain the process to me, or point me in the direction of a online guide?

I would like to avoid using a router as I haven't enough money to buy one at the moment.

Thankyou in advance for any help you can provide me with,
Adapted.

PS. I believe what I need is the PC equivilent to the Software base station, though I may be wrong :-)

I'm looking for exactly the same thing! I have an Airport enabled iBook that I want to connect to the internet via a US Robotices (USR1120) Wireless Adapter, but after spending literally hours playing around trying to get an Ad-hoc network going, I haven't even been able to get the computers to SEE each other.

I tried setting the IPs manually on both sides, but the Airport doesn't seem to do anything when I manually specify the IP. I look at the Network Utility and en1 is always "inactive" with no IP - even if I specify it manually! Is this normal? Did I do something wrong?

Hopefully someone knows a bit more about wireless networking than me!
