Has anyone else experienced difficulties with Airport Extreme simply ceasing to work? I got it set up Thursday night (acting as a bridge between router and modem). Since then, it's quit working once on Saturday, once on Monday and now just this afternoon. It's somewhat aggravating. The only thing I've found that works is unplugging it (I swear there IS not reset button! Nothing happens!) and leaving it for 5 minutes or so, then replugging it back in. I'm not sure this is the best way to do things, but it does work.

Anyone else having the same trouble? I LOVE the wireless stuff, but this is somewhat less then dependable.

You are not alone. I have the same problem, and it seems so do many others on the Apple Airport Extreme Discussion Board.

I'm hoping a firmware update will fix this, but no official word from Apple at this point. I think I want to return my BaseStation Extreme.

Hi Beth (again)!

Imagine my distress. I bought the Airport Extreme not only cuz the new PowerBook was coming with the new Extreme card, but cuz my old LinkSys router was experiencing SIDS about every other day.

Now, it appears the Extreme is getting the same disease...

I'll check out the other forum and see if we have to start a class-action...

Hi Piko: I read all the rants and info -- and at least I know I'm not alone! However, my problems are not as severe as many of those people are experiencing.

Interestingly, I just had my PB in another room (directly ABOVE where the base station is in my basement office) and the signal bar was up, up up -- never seen it with all the bars lit up! And power was clearn and strong. I'm wondering if that has something to do with anything. (although last Saturday I had the laptop right NEXT to the base station and still had to unplug it and plug it back in.)

Also: can anyone tell me how to check the firmware version>

Beth
