I want to go to the Extreme airport from the cable modem to supply internet conections to my airport enabled machines and then run a lan line to one machine that doesn't have an airport.

When the cable is pluged from the Machine without the airport card my whole network is disabled...

when I pull it out I have internet with all the Airport machines...

any ideas?

How is your base station configured? Many (maybe most?) cable providers look at the MAC address of any computer connected to their modem, and if the modem doesn't recognize the address, it doesn't get a network address. This allows them to authenticate their users without requiring them to enter a username and password. It also lets them try to enforce rules about having only one computer connected to the modem... Anyway, there's got to be some configuration setting that you've missed that affects the wired connection, or perhaps a mistake in which port you have the cable connected to versus which port you're connecting the wired computer to.
