A friend just gave me an external HP Jet Direct for my laser printer. How do I get this to work with my network on OS X?

Well if you have something other than a Mac, go here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...SeriesId=27905

Once you've got it configured you can add an IP printer in OS X and use the IP address of the Jet Direct.

Good luck

Thanks...I do have a XP box . Do I need to do anything special to my Linksys router once the printer is connected to it?

my suggestion is to telnet into it to set it up, you can use the webjetadmin software from your windows box if you want, but it is a little more for what you need, you may want to totally reset the jetdirect, a search on HPs site will show you how to reset it and how to log in via telnet, otherwise, download the latest gimp print drivers http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3
and install them on your mac, this will give you the ability to print to your printer through OS X

Turns out that the model of Jetdirect I have is for IPX/SPX only so I think it is useless to me anyway. I ordered a print server from Hawking tech for $56...should work fine.
