While I'm waiting on my new 12" Powerbook to arrive, I wanted to go ahead and get my Airport Extreme Base Station working at home. I have 2 PC's on my home network. They both work fine with the Airport--one PC is wireless, one is not. I can share files and printers across my network with the airport just fine. One PC is running XP and the other is running Win ME. (Ok, I'm a switcher, just bear with me, please.) I can't get either PC to trigger the airport to dial-out to my ISP. I live in a rural area that only has dial-up. I purchased the airport with the modem in it. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How are you configuring the AirPort Base Station? Were you aware that Apple has a configuration utility, the AirPort Admin Utility, for Windows operating systems? If you haven't gotten into the configuration settings of the base station, that's probably where you want to start.

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded the Windows Aiport Admin Utility and that's how I configured the airport. Are their some specific browser or TCP/IP settings on the Win machine so it knows to go through the Airport? I understand that the airport is assigning IP addresses to the machines. Anyway, guess I'll just have to wait until my laptop arrives--it is in the states now! So--should get it this week, I hope. I am ready for the switch!

Well, I just received my 12" Powerbook today! It is wonderful. I was able to get the Windows machines to share the internet connection as I had hoped over the airport network. There is a setting on the Mac to allow others to share the connection. I also, with some trial and error, was able to enable the printer sharing with the printers being connected to 2 Windows PC's to print from my Mac! This is the most wonderful computer I have EVER owned. I am sorry I waited so long to switch! (I still can't log-in to the Mac from the Windows XP machine--I'll keep working on that one. Anyway, I love my new Mac!
