Hey

I have a windows XP PC currently connected to another XP via ethernet (peer to peer). There is no router/switch involved.

I got a powerbook 15" 1ghz a few weeks ago (Its great!) and wish to link it up to my Windows XP PC, so I can share my net connection.

I would prefer if I was able to take advantage of the powerbook's wireless features... but would settle for wired, if wireless is too expensive

Anyhow, what I'm after, is for the powerbook to wirelessing share the internet with my Windows XP machine (not the other comp on the network) without an airport base station - as they are too expensive for me at the moment.

Is it possible to have peer to peer wireless sharing that allows internet sharing as well as file sharing?

If none of this is possible, can anyone recommend a cheap wireless router that I can purchase here in the UK?

Thanks for any help in advance, and I apologise if the above post makes little sense

I'm assuming one of your XP boxes has an internet connection already. If you want to run wireless, you'll need an access point or you'll need to install a wireless network card into the XP box that has the internet connection. Then you can use Internet Connection Sharing that's built into XP to share your internet connection across wireless. To do this, you'll obviously need an airport card in your powerbook. I think the seperate access point is the way to go. You don't necessarily need the airport. You may want to save some money by using a third party setup like netgear. In fact, why not just wait until you can afford a wireless router/access point combo. Then you can connect your PCs and powerbook via wired and wireless connections.
