but...new to networking.
can i use a pc card in my pismo (g3) powerbook and a 3rd party "basestation" and get the "airport extreme" speed?

running 10.2.4


what do i need? any recommendations??

Do you have another computer that you are networking to? Why are you trying to get .11g speed?

hooked up thru ethernet to a pc with a network card...


just thought if i am going to go wireless at home, why not get the fastest connection possible?

Well kinda. The g speed will only apply when transferring (large) files from computer to computer. If you do this a lot, then g could be useful. It won't speed up broadband, though. So you might want to consider a b set up, since that is cheap and easy.
