I have a problem with using my airport cards with the d-link wireless router. The problem is that with encryption enabled on the d-link router I can't join the network. With encryption disabled I'm on the network just fine.
This D-link router is model number DI-713P. It has both 64 and 128 bit encryption. The computers I'm using are 400 MHz iMac DV/SE circa 1999 and a 500 MHz white ibook circa 2001. I bought the airport cards in 2001 when they might not have had the 128 bit encryption capability...but I have to check my records on that. I'm also using Mac OS 10.1.4. I haven't tried booting back into 9.2 yet for the 64 bit encryption case but I have tried it in 9.2 on the ibook using 128 bit encryption.
What happens when I select the network is
1. the airport network shows up as the name 'default '
2. I type in the password I set up in the router and I get a dialog box that says it was the wrong password.
3. With a PC on the same network router I enter the 'WEP key' and it works without a problem.
I understand there might be a firmware upgrade I could download from apple? Has anyone done this?
Thanks in advance.
