hi, I also have WinXP Home with 12"PB (This must be some trend here), and I am new to the Mac world. I have also purchased the Airport Extreme Base and Card for the PB. I have connected the PC through ethernet cable through the WAN port of the AirportBase.

What I would like to do is share the current ADSL connection through USB modem that my PC has. i have enabled sharing on WinXP with ICS on my PC, but the PB does not recognize any of that. I have shared folders on my PC, and the PB cannot see them either. I have tried Ping the PB from PC but didnt' work.

Have tried to assign manually an IP address for the PB, which was done in some of the threads here, and tried to Ping but didn't work.

Can anyone help?

If the PC is also acting as a DHCP server, make sure the base station is set as a bridge, and NOT trying to 'distribute IP addresses" or "share a single address".

In this way, the Mac should be able to 'talk' to the PC and get its configuration from there.

Things will get confused if both the PC and the base station are acting as DHCP servers.

Personally, no, but this may be of interest. Apple has a large community of Airport users, with a similarly large number of configurations. Almost certainly there is already a post there that describes the solution to your problem.

It should be as simple as enabling ICS on the XP machine, and setting the Mac to obtain its IP address automatically. On the Advanced tab of the network connection you're sharing, "select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box." (That's straight from Windows' help.) That should enable the NAT feature and allow you to share through the XP's connection.
