Although an Apple user since 1980, I am just now trying to set up a wireless network in our new house. After researching the net for weeks, I am totally confused.

What I have:
Beige G3/266 w/ XLR8 466 ZIF, 768MB RAM, 6MB VRAM, 10/100 Ethernet Card, USB Card, SIIG Ultra ATA 100/133 interface, 100 GB HD, Zip, Floppy, 24x CD-ROM, 24x10x40 CD Burner, OS 9.2.2, connected to HP All-In-One R80 (PC Print/Scan/Fax) via PowerPrint Serial to Parallel. Printer has Parallel port only.

Wallstreet G3/266, stock except for 512MB RAM, USB PCMCIA adapter, OS 9.2.2, HP 855cxi printer (parallel or DBS), UMAX 600 scanner (SCSI or USB). Considering 10/100 card if would be helpfull in increasing speed when sharing with Beige (I know it won't help with 10BT internet).

Currently wired via Linksys BEFSR41 cable/dsl router, also have a 4port ethernet hub. Internet via SBC DSL (Speedstream 5360 adsl modem). Both Macs are pre-Airport.

What I want to do:
Ethernet the Beige and have the PowerBook wireless. Would like to be able to share files between computers, send print commands to either one or both of the printers, and connect to the internet on both machines. Within six months or so, I would like to move up to OSX, but how well it will work with my old G3's appears to still be questionable, and I know I will lose some of my components when I change.

I have been seriously considering the Belkin 54G Wireless Cable/DSL Gateway Router (F5D7230-4). It claims to support Macs and Appletalk (which I think I need for the printers). The Belkin 54G laptop card (F5D7010) is hard to find. No one in Austin has them and only a few online. Sites that sell the card say that it is Mac OK. Belkin site just lists Windows as required OS and does not have a Mac driver listed. Would they make a fully compatible Router and not make a matching card???

Has anyone here with non-Airport, OS 9 Macs had any experience with the 54G Belkins? Eitherway, info from anyone with knowledge about this would be appreciated.

I don't understand all the laptop cards not talking to base stations. How do you connect in coffee shops, airports, etc, if there is so much incompatibility?

OOps, did I read some where that the PB Carbus and PCMCIA cards don't work with OSX?

I'm scared to do anything for fear of buying stuff that won't work. I don't have the funds or the time to do that.

Thank you for any help or advice you can give.
