I have a G4 running OS X Server 10.2. It runs FTP, AFP, and Web Services. I have gotten everything to work properly with port forwarding in Airport except FTP. I opened ports 20-21 for the correct IP address, but still nobody from outside the LAN could do anything on the Server. They can connect, but do nothing else. I have read around many different forums searching for an answer, and I have not been able to find one Has anyone ever gotten an FTP server running with the Snow white ABS??

i'd say it's a problem with running FTP in "passive" mode. after the initial connection it tries to open up an additional port for handling of the data stream.

try enabling or disabling passive mode on you client, should work...

(a "good" firewall has a FTP module that handles the port negotiation and therefore makes the passive things work. from your message i understand that the snowbase doesn't have that)

Thank you very much for that link, it was quite helpful in explaining how Active and Passive FTP work. I guess my windows friend has a "good" router because he can connect to the server, but I can not with my snow ABS... But now I know exactly what the problem is and how to fix it
