Anyone has experience with AirPort Extreme wireless bridging?

Has anyone actually used two AirPort Extreme base stations and try out wireless bridging, as claimed by Apple?

I would like to know how practical this feature would be. Can the two base station bridge together at a not-so-close distance (say 50 feet or 15 metres away)? Do you need to have both being the Extreme base station in order to bridge?
