Hi to all, this is my first post, I hope it goes well.
Here is problem #1:
I got a linksys wireless network at home which is conected to a adsl modem, my wireless network does not have a router just an access point, i can connect to the internet wiresly with my pc with no problem just run the software in it and i am up and running, but i can do it with my mac it is a 12" powerbook, it does sees the network and the signal level is at the top, but i cant install the software for the modem because it does not have a mac version, my question is how can i connect to the internet wireless with out the software? or do i need to buy a router, or if i change my linksys system to an airport base do you think i can connect directly? i allready have the airport extreme base but i was planning in puting it in another place? will my pc will be able to conect to the internet with the airport base.
Problem # 2:
In my office i have an iMac and it is conected with the network cable to a adsl modem, and by airport card to the local network, the only problem that i have is that i cant see any of the other machines (pc`s) i have allready checked the option in file sharing, what i am doing wrong? i could change the modem to the airport card but i dont know how to configure it as in my house.
Thanks for all the help.

#1 Just get a router. There are several problems and issues you describe and all will be solved by a router. You can get cheap wireless routers from $60 these days. Or use that Airport Extreme. I don't get your reasoning for not using that.

#2 It sounds to me like your on two networks? I don't follow this so well. Why not just connect to the local LAN, which should be connected to the web? Then you'd be able to see the other PCs. Are you on OS X everywhere?

All other machines are windows machines, i am the only one in a mac, i really i´m in one network, the thing is that i have a separate high speed modem an adsl, and the win pc´s are on a cable conection, so i thought i can conect wirelessly to all the other machines because i´m using the lan port to connect to the adsl modem

You can use just about any wireless router out there. And yes, the Airport base is a router in that it does NAT and DHCP. But Netgear, Asante, D-Link, Linksys, SMC and many many others all make comparable things.

But are all YOUR computers on OS X?
I still don't quite get it. Does your office have both cable and ADSL connections to the internet? Why not just use the cable connection? The problem is that you are trying to connect to two different LANs. It'd be much easier if you had just one connection, preferably to the local LAN with the other PCs. This way you'd get an IP from the DHCP server on the same subnet as the others and be able to connect/share with them.

Ok, I change the linksys access point to the airport base, now i can`t connect to the internet and I dont know why, maybe i`m doing something wrong, first I conected my adsl modem directly to my computer to see if everything worked fine, and everythig did I did conect to the internet with no problem, then i hooked my modem to the airport and followed the instruccions in the small manual that comes with the base, all the configurationes pased to the base because when i run the airport utility all seems fine, but when I try to conect to the internet wirelessly the aiport icon shows the machine trying to conect but it cant, please help, maybe I`m doing something wrong, it also tries to conect with the lan port and of course it can`t.

Thanks
