I'm having problems with my iBook 500 Dual USB and my DSL. Every once in a while (lately) my PPoE connection will disconnect, and the Internet connect warning pops ups and tells me its because of lack of communication from the opposite end of sumthin. Can anyone help me?

Go to the PPPoE tab in Network pane. Click PPPoE Options. Uncheck the box for Disconnect if idle for x minutes. If you're using a router, check that the router is also not config'd to disconnect when idle.

And you're not through a router? Sounds like an ISP issue to me. Time to get on the phone...

No, I think there's a problem that needs to be fixed and that it's on their end. Call and see if you can swap out your modem. I just did that for my cable service and all is well again. I have a local office near by and I just walked in and handed them the "old" one and walked out with a new one.
