Hi all.

I'm wondering if there's a way for me to watch video stored on another computer over my LAN. Here's the deal:

I have loads and loads of video on a firewire drive attached to my G4. Sometimes, I want to watch some of this video when I'm on my iBook, which is connected to the network through an airport. If I connect to the G4 from my iBook and try to play the files (mostly mpeg-4) directly off the networked drive, they don't play well at all.

I set up QTSS a while back, but it's a complete pain to export all of this video as hinted movies (not to mention the space).

So...is there a way I can view the actual MP4 files (not hinted files) off the networked drive? Is this one of those "you need gigbit ethernet/airport extreme" issues?

Thanks in advance

Cheers
