I'm trying to configure a SLiMP3 unit to access its server software on my Airport-enabled Key Lime iBook running the latest and greatest OS X. In between the two is a Linksys WET11 Ethernet wireless bridge; it's connected to the SLiMP3 player with an Ethernet patch cable, and it's getting a wireless signal from my iBook (Airport on, Internet sharing enabled).
Now, so far I have not been able to get the SLiMP3 unit to access the server software on the iBook. I've been told that the best way to get a connection established is by using a static IP and not by leaving the IP assignment to DHCP. So, my IP for my Airport network, according to Network Overview in Apple System Profiler, is 10.0.2.1. I'm able to configure the SLiMP3 unit with an IP address for the unit itself, and IP for the server (my iBook), and an IP for the Gateway (router, which I'm assuming in this case is the same as the IP for my Airport network, since I'm not using an Airport base station?).
My big hairy question is, what configuration offers my best chance of getting this bad boy to work? My next plan of attack is to use iBook's IP address for the server address, then use something along the lines of 10.0.2.XX for the IPs for the Linksys bridge and the SLiMP3 unit, and use the standard 10.0.2.1 address for the gateway. Does this make any sense at all?
