I just bought all the above and need help!
I have a powermac g4. My cable modem runs to the airport extreme which is connected to my powermac. I have a laptop that connects to the airport basestation.
I cannot get the slimp3 to see the server. It keeps saying "looking for DHCP server." Can anyone help? I need step by step instructions.
Thanks in advance

I would recommend the SLIMP3 to any music junkie!

Does that mean that you figured out how to hook everything up? Well, let us in on it! This is a new product to me, and I've been waiting for somebody to post step by step instructions to see if it's worth looking into. You've given SLIMP3 your wholehearted endorsement, but you haven't told us how to use it.

Here's how I got mine to work.
Hardware:
Apple iBook 466MHz running OS X 10.2.4
Linksys WET11 Wireless Ethernet Bridge
SLiMP3 player
First I downloaded and installed the SLiMP3 server
software.
Next was configuring the WET11. I have a cable modem
connected to my Ethernet port. I unplugged it and
connected the WET11 to the Ethernet port. I then
followed the instructions found at the Linksys
knowledge base for configuring a WET11 with a Mac
(search the knowledge at linksys.com for "wet11
macintosh"). I set the WET11 in Ad hoc mode, disable
WEP, and basically used its factory defaults. I.e.,
IP = 192.168.1.225. Subnet = 255.255.255.0. Router
defaulted to 192.168.1.1. I set the SSID to SLiMP3
and the channel to 11 (as in, "this one goes to 11").
I made sure I had a green WLAN light on the WET11, and
then I unplugged it from my Ethernet port.
Next I configured the iBook. Under Networking in
System Prefs, I selected AirPort under my automatic
location. Under the TCP/IP tab, I chose Manually. I
used 192.168.1.5 for the static IP. Subnet is
255.255.255.0. I left the router address blank. Then
I hit "Apply."
After this I turned on AirPort, and there was SLiMP3
listed in the pulldown menu (using the AirPort status
icon in the menu bar, it showed up as a
Computer-to-Computer connection). I selected it, then
went to my network utility and pinged the WET11
(192.168.1.225). No packet loss.
Lastly, I plugged in the SLiMP3 player, connected it
to the WET11, and configured it for static IP. IP for
the player = 192.168.1.33; Subnet = 255.255.255.0;
Router = 192.168.1.1 (same as the WET11 router IP);
SLiMP3 server IP = 192.168.1.5 (same as the static
AirPort IP on the iBook). After clicking through the
end of the menu on the player, there was my music
library!

Very cool. I think even more important than you got all of this working, is that you found the proper secret password to get WET11 setup instructions from Linksys ("wet11" and "macintosh")-I'd have just used "mac" and wound up with tons of stuff about Media Access Control addresses.
Great job!

That info was actually passed along to me by one of the kind folks over at the Yahoo! SLiMP3 user group. If you're thinking about getting -- or have -- a SLiMP3 player, you need to subscribe to that group. A couple of the developers of the device read the group religiously and are great about answering questions.
Now, on the WET11 instructions. Beware that the document you find at Linksys support is for an older version of the WET11 firmware. The main difference is that everything you need to configure is pretty much on the same page, rather than under different tabs. Also, there is no "reboot" button, only "Apply." When you hit the Apply button, you will have sent your setup info to the WET11, even though there is no real sign that the changes have been made (aside from the WLAN light coming on on the WET11).
Feel free to e-mail me if I can answer any specific setup questions!
