I'm hoping to get unbiased advice regarding the following question.

I have two separate networks to administer. One is 4 machines, (three running OSX and 1 running OS 9.1) and the other, in a different location, is 19 machines primarily OS 9 with only 1 running OSX.

I have used Timbuktu in the past with OS 9 but not with OSX. I am not familiar with Apple Remote Desktop.

What would be your advice in both of these environments with regards to use for remote administration?

VNC is nice, and its free

Heres a Mac implementation
http://www.webthing.net/vncthing/

Plus its cross platform, so you can use it to control windows linux or macs.
15" Macbook Pro 1.83 2 GB RAM
Blackbook 13.3 Powerhouse 2 GB RAM
MacMini Dual Core 2 GB RAM (Sadly running Windows Most of the time)
Numerouse Workstations running windows and Linux. Sorry don't have the specs, I don't pay much attention to them anymore. :)

Thanks for the feedback. I have tried VNC and it's pretty good considering it's free. There's a couple of issues with it but as long as no one needs to use the remote machine it works OK.

Timbuktu rules. I use it at home with OSX, OS9 and OS 8.6 machines. Perfect.

Apple Remote Desktop is one of the shittiest pieces of software ever.

Here is a new shareware Mac remote control program:

Haxial

I have never used it and know nothing about it beyond what you will find at the link posted above.
