Hi UK users,

Does anyone with a Telewest broadband connection know if it can be shared by multiple Macs? I know it somehow plugs into the Ethernet port, but can you just put a minihub in between and all access at the same time?

Thanks!

1. buy yourself a router
2. plug the feed from the cable modem into the WAN port on the router
3. plug the machines into the router's ports
4. assign an IP to each machine (192.168.1.1 is taken by the router, so anything from 192.168.1.2-192.168.1.255), and fill in the other network details
5. clone the MAC address of the machine you registered with Telewest
6. turn DHCP off, in the router's browser config

that's pretty much it, i think? you can play with Port Forwarding, etc, via the same browser config as the DHCP setting was in

now, go forth and multiply that connection!

philzilla covered it really... just wanted to add that Telewest is quite home-networking friendly, you can register multiple MAC addresses (up to 5) by logging in to their self-support site. Kind of useful in case something goes wrong and you have to use a single machine to troubleshoot.
