My school has a wireless notwork setup and we can use the schools laptops (with wireless card) to surf the net. I was wondering if I brought my powerbook to school with airport card, will it be able to connect to the network and surf the net wirelessly? and will I need to adjust any settings, or will it auto detect?

There are a number of wireless networking standards that your school may have gone with. And even if their system is 802.11b compliant, they may have implemented some authentication system that would prevent you from just casually connecting. The only way to tell if you can just use the system is to try it. You could always ask the school'd IT people about it. They may just help you get connected...
