Not to cross post, but just curious if anyone here is having the same problem...it's driving me nuts.

I was having the same problem since day one of using the Airport Extreme Base Station. However the 5.0.4 firmware update seems to have solved the problem, three days running without dropouts.

Maybe my lucky week, if it fails again I will report.

BTW, none of the esotherical workarounds discussed in the Apple Discussions forums worked for me.

I've been having nothing but problems with Airport Extreme since I bought it with my computer. It's been the biggest headache and I really hate Apple for it.

I live in a college apartment complex, and every night my AE cuts out numerous times between 7-9pm. I'm guessing that it might be someone using a 2.4GHz phone (you know, talking to a significant other or something).

I updated to 5.0.4 but that didn't seem to help. Now, I changed it to channel 2 earlier tonight, but it's been out for over 2 hours now. And since the Aiport Utility can't detect the signal from the base station, I can't change the channel or any other settings! I HATE AIRPORT!!

Look for MacStumbler on versiontracker.com, it seems to be a good utility for detecting other WiFi traffic in the area.
I had to reset my base station twice this morning, so far it's okay but I'm still not happy. I followed all the suggestions on the other thread, none have helped. Last suggestion was a third party router and simply use the base station as a bridge, I may try that. Hopefully Apple will come up with something, the 5.0.4 update didn't do much.

I'm doing exactly that at the moment. I use my good old Snow Airport Basestation as the router. But I still got disconnect from time to time (one or twices a day). After the 5.0.4 update, connection come back very quickly (1 to 2 minutes). But I can always connect to my SAB network if the AE signal doesn't come back in timely manner!
