I've got a new TiBook, and as a med student, have access to a lan in a hospital. Problem is that it has suddenly started to not want to recognise the lan at all - it worked fine when I first got it. It's also a bit temperamental at home too. Any ideas?

So what was the problem, and how did you fix it?

Indeed, I'm curious as well.

turns out it wasn't actually a problem with my tibook - it was that the pre-registration period of my uni ran out - have to register (free) after 10 hours!

However, now found another problem - at home we have a network. Originally, before my Tibook it was 3 windows machines using a shared dial up connection. This dialup was operated via two of the machines (depending which was on etc). When I got my mac however, I started using it instead of my windows box. I can use the internet when one of the computers dials up but not when the other one does - I get the self assigned IP for some reason. Any ideas?

Also, whats the best way to connect my mac and pc via firewire? Cos otherwise have to trail cables everywhere!

Thanks

The computer that doesn't let you share the dial up connection probably doesn't have Internet Connection Sharing configured to automatically assign IP addresses. It's a simple fix in that computer's settings.
